Meteor Award for Best Irish Female and Best Irish Album nominations for Tales of Silversleeve at the Meteors and the Choice Music Prize
Cathy Davey
A big congratulations to Cathy Davey on winning Best Irish Female in the Irish Meteor awards 2008.
Cathy released her second album “Tales Of Silversleeve” in October 2007 and with songs like “Sing For Your Supper”, “Reuben” and “Moving” she has been dominating the national radio airwaves ever since.
Cathy recorded a lot of it herself in her home studio and then finished it with Liam Howe of Sneaker Pimps. This proved to be a very successful move as it led to a Choice Music Prize nomination for 2007 Irish Album of the Year.
Cathy has also appeared on the Elbow track "Grace Under Pressure" and has also supported R.E.M. during their sold-out Live Rehearsal shows at the Olympia in Dublin in the summer 2007.
“ Tales of Silversleeve' may well be the most spectacularly beautiful Irish album you’ll hear this year. It has songs galore, but it also has these glorious sounds and flights of imagination where Davey aims for the sky and actually gets there. She’s trying things out, having a go at new ideas and sounding as if she’s having a whale of a time. Every time I hear the album, I find something new on it to think about.-Jim Carroll.
