Big Bear Sound were proud sponsors of the latest Sounds Alive event, “Turn Off The Lights”, an evening of ghostly sounds and eerie tales in the incredible surroundings of the Grand Lodge of Dublin’s Freemason’s Hall, on Halloween night.

Turn Off The Lights - Julien 1Presented in association with Le Cool and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, “Turn Off The Lights” featured several suitably chilling radio plays from the 1940’s, interwoven with some haunting, otherworldly musical performances from the wonderful Laura Sheeran.

The (sold-out) audience were also treated to a one-off musical performance by David Kitt and Margie Lewis, collaborating on a specially-commisioned piece inspired by “Conversations In The Dark” – producer Colette Kinsella’s radio documentary / audio journey through the weird and wonderful sounds of Dublin Zoo at night.  Colette herself and (Director of Dublin Zoo) Leo Oosterweghel were also on hand for a chat on the night.

Sounds Alive was started in 2010 by Julien Clancy, a freelance radio documentary maker who loves sharing the magic and wonder of stories told through sound. Since then, he has hosted listening events everywhere from the Megapolis Audio Art Festival in New York to Electric Picnic.  For more info, please visit www.soundsoutloud.com or follow @julesoutloud.  Thanks to Loreana Rushe for all photos.
